About

Vilwadi Gulika (also known as Vilwadi Gutika) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation prepared in tablet form, widely used in South India, especially in Kerala. It is mainly prescribed for poison-related conditions, insect and snake bites, fevers, indigestion, and infections. Traditionally, it is also used as a preventive and curative medicine for toxic conditions and is known for its antitoxic, antimicrobial, and digestive properties.

Uses

• First-aid support in snake bite, scorpion sting, and insect bites (along with emergency medical care)

• Treats vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and dysentery

• Effective in fever with chills

• Helps in indigestion and food poisoning

• Used in skin allergies, boils, and rashes caused by toxins

• Sometimes used externally in paste form for poisonous bites

Dosage & Administration

• Internal Use:

  • Adults: 1–2 tablets, once or twice daily with water, tender coconut water, or honey (as directed by an Ayurvedic physician)

  • Children: Dose should be adjusted by a physician

• External Use:

  • Crushed tablet can be made into a paste with water and applied over insect or snake bite areas (only as a traditional supportive measure; immediate medical help is mandatory).

Precautions

• Must be taken only under Ayurvedic physician’s supervision

• Not a substitute for allopathic emergency treatment in case of poisonous bites

• Pregnant and lactating women should avoid unless prescribed

• Keep out of reach of children

• Store in a cool and dry place
